*It’s perfect for use on the ends.

Staples: Plan B Conditioner

When you can’t have Nexxus Humectress in your life due to a nonexistent budget, grab yourself a bottle of Sauve Humectant.

Ingredients:

Water (Aqua), Cetearyl Alcohol, Centrimonium Chloride, Dimethicone, Fragrance (Parfum) (Parfum), Quaternium 18, Potassium Chloride, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Propylene Glycol, Disodium EDTA, TEA Dodecylbenzene Sulfonate, DMDM Hydantoin, Glycerin, Panthenol, Hair Keratin Amino Acids, Sodium Chloride, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone

Suave claims Humectant moisturizes just as well as Nexxus Humectress. When you look at the ingredients on the label, the Suave ingredients are similar to the Nexxus ingredients. We won’t ever know the exact formulation of either product because it’s clear the two products aren’t completely identical. So here’s a completely unbiased view on Suave Humectant: It is a great conditioner that makes my hair feel silky and moisturized.

Staples: CONDITIONER

My staple conditioner since February 2008 has been Nexxus Humectress.

Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Cetearyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Bis C13 15 Alkoxy PG Amodimethicone, Stearalkonium Chloride, Fragrance, Aminopropyl Dimethicone, Cetrimonium Chloride, Isostearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, DMDM Hydantoin, Dimethiconol, C14 15 Alcohols, Limonene, Disodium EDTA, Citric Acid, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Citronellol, Coumarin, Geraniol, Hexylcinnamal, Sodium Chloride, Hydrolyzed Keratin, Panthenol, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Yellow 5 Lake (CI 19140), Propylene Glycol, Red 4 (CI 14700), Red 33 (CI 17200), Polyglyceryl 3 Diisostearate, Blue 1 Lake (CI 42090), Polysorbate 60, Stearic Acid, Palmitic Acid, Myristic Acid, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Honey Extract (Mel, Extrait de Miel), Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Flour Lipids, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (Vitamin C), Glycine Soja (Soybean) Sterol, Alpha Glucan Oligosaccharide, Ceramide 3, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E)

What used to cost a little more than I wanted to spend on a conditioner has become downright expensive since the economy plummeted. Anyone who says Nexxus Humectress is affordable is either a liar or someone with money to burn.

I can’t afford this product but I honestly can’t live without it. It makes my hair soft and silky and it’s partly responsible for my amazing hair growth. No other conditioner that I’ve tried gives me the same results. If I could conditioner wash with it I would but at this point it’s caviar in a bottle (and I can’t afford to waste this caviar).

It’s my leave-in. It’s the main ingredient for my deep conditioner. I baggy my ends with it and massage it into my new growth. IT IS MAGIC in a bottle.

When I don’t have enough money to buy my Humectress, I scrimp, save and starve. When these three things aren’t working in my favor, I go to plan B.

Chances are, it’s HAIR LUST, a HAIR CRUSH or your HAIR INSPIRATION.

Meet Canadian model Coco Rocha. She’s the chameleon du jour of the fashion industry. Honestly, I love her with this hair color (and the wind in her hair isn’t bad either). Your own hair doesn’t have to look exactly like someone else’s hair in order for you to be inspired.

Tress Management Tip: Frizz

This gallery contains 1 photo.

The frizzier your hair is the more conditioner you need – to leave in that is. The next time you’re in the shower rinsing conditioner from your hair, remember this trick: Don’t rinse all of it out. Leave some conditioner … Continue reading

Model Hair: Tiga D

Chances are, it’s HAIR LUST, a HAIR CRUSH or your HAIR INSPIRATION. I am crushing on her hair big time. Look at this gorgeous woman!!

Meet French model Tiga D. Wherever she is right now, I have one thing to tell her “Tiga D, you hair is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I love the color. I love the curl pattern. I love it!” Ok, so that was more like four things but she’ll get the point if she EVER sees this.

PRODUCT LUST: H2 Ion Thermal Activated Heat Repair

H2 Ion THERMAL ACTIVATED HEAT REPAIR is a treatment formulated for damaged hair spotlighted as the Best Kept Celebrity Hair Secret in Elle, Glamour and Allure magazine. As far as I’m concerned, this is a luxury treatment (check the price).

Much of what we see on the market for damaged hair is silicone-based. These can easily build up and weigh down hair. H2 Ion uses heat-activated technology and is specially formulated with something they call MIM, moisture infusion microbead, seemingly only derived from Sonoran Jojoba plants. MIM works to infuse much needed moisture directly into dry damaged hair. By infusing moisture, you fight the frizzies, split ends & heat and weather damage, all of which encourage healthy hair growth.  So, where other treatments work on the outside of the hair, H2 Ion claims to work from the inside out. Not only does it work from the inside out, it also claims to do this in 1 minute. No, that’s not a typo – one minute.

Here’s what it promises.

Protect hair from heat damage

Reverse wind & weather damage

Hydrate & replenish damaged hair

Seal split ends for smoother strands

Add body to your hair

Silky soft hair

Promote healthy hair growth

I would buy this immediately but it’s not in my budget. The cheapest I’ve found is $59.00 for 2 ounces. Shut the front door! Shut the back door! Shut the car door and make sure the garage door is shut too. I’ll lust this one from afar. I’ll probably dream
about it, reach for it in the dark but that’s ok for now.

Model Hair: Anja Konstantinova

I’ve got a MAJOR hair crush on this girl. Her white blond hair makes me weak.

Meet Russian-born model Anja Konstantinova. These photos were taken by Steven Chee for Fashion Gone Rogue and they’re so beautiful. With the exception of the horrid Gucci frock (the purple and orange ensemble), I love how the jewel tones look with her coloring.

She’s the new darling of the fashion world and this is remarkable because she’s only 5’4 (and Kate Moss used to be the exception with her 5 foot 7 inch frame).
