Quick at home trick for dandruff

A dry itchy scalp can drive you crazy. To soothe it, crush a couple ibuprofen pills or aspirin pills and mix them into your shampoo. The ibuprofen or aspirin will exfoliate your scalp and clear away flakes.

Apply shampoo and leave on for 2 minutes. Rinse as usual.

VERDICT: Shut the front door. This hair dryer is a must for anyone. If you’ve always wanted one of those really expensive hair dryers you see stylists using this will make your dreams come true without emptying your pockets, your piggy bank, your savings account and the crevices of every sofa in your home. Seriously, the Conair Infiniti Pro 1875-Watt AC Motor Hair Dryer is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G and this is a completely unbiased review. I only wish I could’ve been paid to try this dryer ‘cause it’s fantastic.

I used the cold shot option 90% of the time. Did it dry fast? Yes, try really fast and by really fast I mean 1/3 of the time it normally takes and I wasn’t even trying to rush. I’m sure if I wanted to blow out my hair, I could have and it would have been beautiful but we all know I’m NOT into hair brushes of any sort (not for my hair). Was my hair soft? Yes it was.

The cold shot button gave me nice cool air. The warm option was very warm nearing hot and the hot setting was out of control. Who would need to use that much heat anyway? PAUSE. *crickets* Who cares?! If you need it, if you want it, it’s got it. Did I say I love this little machine? Seriously, don’t just shut the front door, shut the back door. Shut the garage door…just shut it all!

Even the puppy is happy and her coat dried in record time. She too loves the cold shot button, wind in her mane and all that jazz. She too can’t get enough. Whenever she’s too hot she walks over to the dryer and gives me a death stare “cool me off nooooow” and I oblige.

*CONS: This hair dryer can start to feel a little heavy if you’re doing a blow out and you have long hair. You will definitely notice the heaviness when you reach the end of your styling session. Honestly, who cares? If this is the biggest problem you have with this blowdryer then deal with it. Style in sections and take a break if you need to because this little machine is must have. The only other problem you might have with it is how loud it is but I’m not complaining so don’t look to me for comfort because you’ll just get a wicked side-eye.

Model Hair: Austria Alcantara

Excuse me while I salivate over model Austria Alcantara’s hair.

Welcome to Austria. Meet Dominican model Austria Alcantara. Gasp. I need a moment. Her hair is so long and so thick. My dreams of thicker hair have been thwarted by that dastardly villain Organix Brazilian Keratin Therapy Flat Iron Spray. I’ve recovered somewhat but I’m definitely working with hair that feels much thinner than I’ve become accustomed to. Sniff. I can still drool over hair like Austria’s. I wonder what her hair habits are?

Road Test: Organix Brazilian Keratin Therapy Flat Iron Spray

What I’ve tested: Organix Brazilian Keratin Therapy Flat Iron Spray

Ingredients

Deionized Water, Alcohol Denatured (SD Alcohol 40 B), PEG 12 Dimethicone, Glycerin, Polysorbate 20, Polyquaternium 6, Polyquaternium 11, Hydrolyzed Keratin Protein, Theobroma Cacao Extract (Cocoa Butter), Cocos Nucifera Oil (Coconut), Persea Gratissima Oil (Avocado), Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis) Extract (Aloe Leaf), Panthenol, Parfum, Diazolidinyl Urea, Iodopropyl Butylcarbamate, Citric Acid, Blue 1 Lake (CI 42090), Red 40, Yellow 5

WHAT IT PROMISES:

Organix Brazilian Keratin Therapy Flat Iron Spray is a rich formula of Brazilian cocoa nut oil, rich keratin proteins, avocado oil and cocoa butter that will seal and protect hair form thermal heat styling.

Product Features

Blend Of Rich Cocoa Nut Oil With Keratin Proteins For Strength

Organic Avocado Oil And Cocoa Butter Smooth The Cuticle

Seals And Protects Hair From Thermal Heat Styling

Adds A Brilliant Glow And Luminescent Shine

Sulfate & Sodium Free Formula

HOW TO USE: Dry hair completely. Shake Organix Flat Iron Spray well to mix ingredients thoroughly. Spray evenly section by section throughout and smooth the hair with a straightening iron. For best results, use in conjunction with other Organix Brazilian Keratin Therapy products.

VERDICT: I stalked this product for months then I finally got the chance to buy it when the store I bought it in put it on sale and allowed me to use a coupon. So what do I think about it? Well, in the words of Whitney Houston “hell-to-tha-naw!”

So my verdict is a resounding NO! Rich in “Brazilian cocoa nut oil, rich keratin proteins, avocado oil and cocoa butter” – um really? It’s definitely rich in something and that’s A-L-C-O-H-O-L. This so-called heat protectant fried my hair badly even though I used a super-low setting on my ceramic tourmaline flat iron (under 200 degrees).

I went through each section of hair ONE TIME with my flat iron and the results were super-duper straight hair. The product smells heavenly when it’s in the bottle, so good that you forget you’re dealing with tons of alcohol (my bad). Granted, I had lots of movement in my hair and it even felt silky to the touch but the thing I noticed more than super-straight silky hair was the smell of BURNT HAIR. I immediately wanted to shampoo and deep condition afterwards but I held off for two more days. So for three days, my hair smelled like a pot that caught fire on a stove with a sprinkle of coconut oil. It was awful.

Day 2 I noticed my hair didn’t feel silky anymore but rough. Day 3 I noticed more split ends than I’ve ever seen on my hair strands. I was in a state of…well, let’s just leave it at I was in a state. A couple of hot oil treatments, reconstructors and deep conditioning treatments and a very sad Search & Destroy later, my answer remains the same. NO TO THIS PRODUCT. Two thumbs down, 8 fingers, 2 big toes and 8 toes!!!!

If you’ve already bought this product and can’t return it, then put in some extensions and use it on that (unless you actually care about your hair extensions). If you can’t do that, give it to someone you really don’t like or to someone who cares NOTHING about the health of their hair. Honestly, I expected more from Organix.

*ANYTHING positive about this product? Well, it smells good when it’s still in the bottle and the packaging is pretty. That’s it.

Model Hair: Alyona B & Nicole Volfov for Singapore Brides August 2011

Chances are, it’s HAIR LUST, a HAIR CRUSH or your HAIR INSPIRATION.

Meet models Alyona B and Nicole Volfov in COLD FLOWERS. What I’m focusing on in these beautiful photos isn’t the fact both models have long hair but how the photographer captures it with his lens. The way Zhang Jingna sets up these photos, the hair becomes just as important as the gowns. Lovely.

Your own hair doesn’t have to look exactly like someone else’s hair in order for you to be inspired.

IT’S  CALLED EQUAL OPPORTUNITY HAIR LUST.

Model Hair: Tiga D (again)

So yes, it’s a total hair crush I’m having on Tiga. I wouldn’t go so far as to cut my hair, not after everything I’ve been through with it, but I would definitely put in some extensions and let me tell you, I DON’T DO EXTENSIONS. Every single time I’ve had extensions sewn in I’ve paid for it in the worst way – red bumps, abrasions, reddened inflamed skin, scabs, and that was just on my scalp. [But enough of that.] Enjoy the photos of Tiga.

Road Test: Rusk Sensories Purify Cucurbita & Tea Tree Oil Deep Cleansing Shampoo

What I plan to test: Rusk Sensories Purify Cucurbita & Tea Tree Oil Deep Cleansing Shampoo

Why?: I was going to respond with “because I feel like it” but that’s rude. The packaging is usually what catches my eye and this case was no different. Rusk has a great line of products (so I hear) and I’ve always wanted to try them (but my pockets are empty at the moment). I was attracted to the packaging (I know, I have a problem) then a closer look revealed a sale sticker that FORCED me to pick it up and purchase it with the coins I had in my purse. (Oh yes, the price was that good.) I normally see the retail price for this bottle at $14.00 PLUS so this was either Divine Intervention or dumb luck because I needed to buy a clarifying shampoo and (cue the music and take a couple of seconds to do a country hoedown) this was a great find.

Ingredients:

Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Lauramide MEA, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, PPG-2 Hydroxyethyl Cocamide, Panthenol, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Keratin Amino Acids, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) Seed Extract, Fragrance (Perfum), Benzophenone-4, Tetrasodium EDTA, Citric Acid, Propylene Glycol, PPG-33 Buteth-45, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Green 3, Ext Violet 2, Yellow 5

WHAT IT PROMISES:

Rusk Sensories Purify is a natural deep cleanser that wakes the hair up. Purify adds vitality and luster, while ridding hair and particularly scalp of impurities

Arouses, stimulates tired hair and scalp

Specially formulated with cucurbita and tea tree oil, naturally effective astringents

Ideal for problem scalps that may be oily, flaky and have dandruff.

Touted to be “the ultimate cleansing ritual.”

VERDICT: COMING SOON!
